Smart Outdoor Blinds: The Future Of Technology

10 questions you should ask when engaging in a building designer

How smart are our homes?

Smart technology is becoming more integrated with our daily lifestyles and will only continue to grow. The introduction of devices such as Google Home and Amazon Alexa means many homes can become “smart homes”. This allows users to control aspects of their houses via voice control and a smartphone app.

Some companies have taken this technology and extended it to outdoor entertainment areas, specifically to outdoor blinds. This means that users will have the ability to connect their outdoor blinds to a smartphone app and control the blonds using smart home devices like Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

Better living with smart outdoor blinds

Smart outdoor blinds come with a Wi-Fi bridge that connects them to your home internet. This means you’ll get two convenient options to control your blinds.

The first allows you to use voice control with your Google Home or Amazon Alexa device. Simply say “Google, lower my blinds” and watch the magic happen.

If you haven’t jumped on the smart home device bandwagon just yet then don’t fret, there’s still a way to use this technology without one. Simply download the relevant app to your smartphone, follow the prompts and you’ll be able to control your blinds with your phone!

The app also allows you to operate your blinds from anywhere in the world with an internet connection – so if you remember that you left your blinds open when boarding a flight for a weeklong getaway, you’re covered. The app has other benefits too, such as programming the blinds to operate at certain times during the day.
