There are three common types of garage doors, and the one you choose for your garage is typically dependent on your situation.

Sectional Garage Doors

Sectional garage doors are the most common type of garage door installed today and are ideal in a number of scenarios. From the look and material of the door and the ability to add windows or decorative features, to the height and clearance of your garage allowing for the door to open freely,  there are a number of factors to consider in addition to having a reasonable budget for this type of door.

Roller Doors

Roller doors are ideal for garages and sheds, particularly in situations where you’re not overly concerned with having a range of style and design options at your disposal. In addition, roller doors are cost-effective for those on low budgets, are practical for maximising space and useful in a geographical area subject to extremely high winds (such as Darwin or North Queensland), provided you have the clearance at the head of the garage opening.

Tilt Doors

The least common type of garage door installed today, tilt doors are ideal when garages have extremely limited heights at the opening (less than 200mm) or if you’re looking to add windows and decorative features and have more options available to you in terms of materials. Tilt doors do require adequate room to open and close so considerations must be given for safe space at the front of your garage, while a reasonable budget is required as well.
