The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is the primary environmental regulator of NSW and takes a stewardship approach. We partner with Aboriginal people, industry, business and the wider community to protect, restore and enhance the State’s diverse ecosystems. We help to enhance community health and safety through education and awareness. Are you a DIY-er or home renovator worried about the presence of asbestos in an older home? We lead the cross-government response on asbestos and SafeWork NSW will also be on the EPA stand to provide advice on handling asbestos. Another risk for home renovators is lead. While it has been phased out of products such as paint, it can still be found in homes and soil. Come and talk to us about managing the risks, or any other home reno questions you have. For instance, how should you dispose of paint or chemicals? They can’t go out for council pick up. We work closely with Community Recycling Centres to ensure the people of NSW can access recycling options for problem waste. Our mission is to protect tomorrow together. Come and see what role you can play in protecting and nurturing the environment for the generations of today and tomorrow.
