5 Cutting-Edge Kitchen Products of 2019

We run through five of the freshest kitchen innovations to grace the Home Show in 2019.

Axitech Bench

Clover Kitchens

Launching exclusively at the Home Show is the Axitech Bench, a breakfast bar that transforms into a dining table. Dining tables are typically reserved for larger homes. However, this clever product is perfect for smaller apartments and dwellings.

With the push of a button, the breakfast bar rotates out from under the countertop into a dinner table that accommodates four to six guests. The floating design does away with any supporting legs, giving you space to kick each other during dinner debates. It’s rare to find a crowd-pleaser that also serves as a practical addition to the home.

The wood is from Timber Revival, specialists in restoring reclaimed Australian hardwoods. A spokesman said, ‘We’re parents, which doesn’t just mean we’re sleep deprived. We’re conscious of the environmental legacy we’ll leave our kids, so we make ecologically responsible choices in our business.’

Clover Kitchens didn’t stop there. Further down the benchtop is a cut-out corner, room for a few books and a flower pot, or maybe some breakfast items. Beautiful flush draws can be opened with the touch of a finger to finish a bench that just keeps giving.

Curved Kitchen doors

BBK Interiors

Who said renovating means spending tens of thousands of dollars? These modular curved kitchen doors can be bought individually to give a whole new look to your old kitchen. BBK Interiors, already experts at creating custom sliding wardrobe doors, are bringing their wealth of experience to custom kitchen cabinet doors.

Three designs were shown off at the Home Show. Firstly, we saw the pearl white melamine curved door which screams elegance. Secondly, is the Hampton style vinyl wrapped curved door fit for a queen. And finally, a vinyl wrapped curved door with a groove in the top for finger opening goodness. With hundreds of variations of doors to choose from, there’s something for everyone.

Using their handy online tool, simply select your style and colours, enter your existing kitchen door dimensions and add to cart. Easy. It takes the cost and complication out of updating your old kitchen design. Best of all, the doors are manufactured and shipped locally in Australia, in a Perth suburb called Wangara.

Super Matte Black Nano Benchtop

Freedom Kitchens

From sports cars to kitchen benchtops, Freedom Kitchens are taking cues from the automotive industry to turbocharge your food prep. Fans of the Block might recognise designs featured as Freedom Kitchens are sole suppliers to the show.

The chic super matte black worktop is laminate with a nanosystem integrated. This means that when the surface gets scratched, you can wet the surface, whip out the iron, put it on a low heat and run it over the surface to instantly repair. Talk about durability!

The materials are sourced by German manufacturers Duropal, world-class producers of high-pressure laminates. Both front and back of the doors are coated matte black. ABS edging and German-made soft-close mechanisms mean you have all the tech to complement the style. With 30 years in the game, Freedom has its factory based in Australia to ensure total design control and competitive pricing.

Storage

European Kitchen Group

Made in Italy, the Wall Waiter by Cesar is a multi-functional aluminium module that reinvents the spice rack. It’s elegantly simple, folding down to create extra shelf space for organising kitchen goods. The LED backlight illuminates the contents while creating a warm feeling in the kitchen nest.

Opening like a Ferrari door is the Servo-Drive for Aventos, revealing all your glassware. At one touch it glides effortlessly up and out of the way. The gravity-defying trick means you have a full view of the entire cabinet at once.

Finally, we have an L shaped steel patina corner unit which rotates open out of the way. That means you have access to all the items inside, front and back.

Ceiling Cassettes

Schweigen Home

Typical range hoods sit above a stove and catch exhaust fumes like a windsock. Schweigen presented a whole new type of range hood at the Home Show. The ceiling panels resemble light units at first glance, as they sit flush with the ceiling. On closer inspection, you’ll spot vents on the side, sucking air in silently out of the room.

Anthony Fletcher, Managing Director of Schweigen Home Appliances, said, “the ceiling cassettes take over from your standard, island range hood which goes over island benches. Then, you’re able to see and talk with each other in the kitchen, which is the home of your entertainment these days.”

Schweigen Isodrive motors are not only silent but incredibly energy efficient. They use just 62 watts of power or one third as much of a typical range hood. That’s less energy to run than most incandescent light bulbs.
